The Practice

Therapy That Feels
Relevant to Your Life

Therapy does not have to feel clinical, distant, or disconnected from the life you are actually living.

Sometimes you know exactly what is bothering you. Other times, things simply feel harder than they should — a relationship you are questioning, anxiety that will not settle, or the sense that the way you have always handled things is no longer working.

This is a place to have honest conversations, understand what is happening beneath the surface, and work toward change that feels practical and personal.

What Brings People Here

When Life Feels Harder Than It Looks

People rarely arrive with everything figured out. Often they simply know something needs attention.

01

Anxiety & Overthinking

Your mind rarely switches off. You replay conversations and stay a step ahead of everything.

02

Isolation & Disconnection

You can have people around you and still feel alone or misunderstood.

03

Relationships & Communication

The same patterns keep showing up — withdrawing, defending, repeating the same conflict.

04

Identity & Self-Worth

Confidence, masculinity, sexuality, gender, belonging — and the person you are becoming.

05

Life Transitions

Relationships change. Careers shift. What got you here may not fit where you are going.

06

Career & Life Direction

Rethinking success, changing roles, or deciding what you actually want next.

You do not need a perfect explanation before reaching out.

The Therapist Behind the Practice

Meet James Bain, LMSW, MBA

James founded Therapy for the Modern Man to create a more direct, practical, and human approach to therapy. His style is active and collaborative — the goal is not to talk in circles, but to understand what is happening, name the patterns that matter, and work toward real change.

Before becoming a therapist, James spent more than a decade in technology and executive environments. That gave him firsthand familiarity with responsibility, leadership, major career decisions, and the gap that can exist between looking capable and actually feeling settled.
